Post COVID-19 Right to Work Checks
The temporary COVID-19 concessions for right to work checks will come to an end on 16 May 2021. Some very welcome and good news is that employers will not, as had been previously advised by the UKVI, need to carry out retrospective checks on their employees who had a COVID-19 adjusted check between 30 March 2020 and 16 May 2021 (inclusive). This reflects the length of time the adjusted checks have been in place and supports business during this difficult time.
As of 17 May 2021 employers must either:
check the employee's original documents, or
check the employee's right to work online, if they’ve given their share code
